Child Disability Benefit

The Child Disability Benefit (CDB) is a financial support program designed to assist families caring for an under 18 child with a disability. This benefit is provided as a monthly payment to help cover the additional costs of raising a child with disabilities. This benefit is a supplement to the Canada Child Benefit.

The calculator below will estimate your CDB amounts. Simply obtain your family net income from page 2 of the appropriate CCB statement that you will find in your CRA mail and enter it in the Net Income column. For example if your child was approved for 2018 forward, you would use the 2016 CCB statement. The CDB amounts will be calculated based on your income.

Ensure you look at the payout period as those months must fall within the approval years. In the event your child was approved from their year of birth, the CDB will only be paid out from the month after birth.

If you are not confident that your family received all of the tax refunds and benefits you are entilted too with the DTC, feel free to CLICK HERE and fill out our form for a free, no obligation review.

Ensure you have received your full CDB

Figuring out if you've received your full Child Disability Benefit (CDB) can be confusing, but there is a quick way to check. After your child is approved for the Disability Tax Credit, look at the CCB notices in your CRA account. If your notice includes the CDB and matches the base year shown on our Base Year Calculator, you have probably received your full payout. (Don't worry, this calculator does not collect any personal data!) If it looks like you are still owed a portion of your benefit, you can get more information and easily generate a request letter at THIS LINK.
